About cheap datacenters, ILV and protection from DDoS
Sometimes the project lives in an inexpensive foreign data center, falls under the carpet locks of Roskomnadzor, periodically under DDoS attacks, but it also has terabytes of data and traffic.
How to live with this?
We have a small photobank on our support. We will not name the country and the country, only some technical dаta:
50 TB of data for storage, monthly updates about 100 GB, "hot data" (95% of requests go to them) - 200 GB.
Average traffic - 50 Tb /month.
Several years ago, several SX series servers from Hetzner with large disks were chosen for placing photos (for storage of PD had to come up with a more complicated solution, but about this another time).
Southbridge doubted that Hetzner was suitable for such a project, but the required level of availability and connectivity quality was achieved.
Plus for such a project, the use of CDN will be an order of magnitude more expensive than the distribution of statics from servers in an inexpensive data center.

Personally, I recommend packet.net and servers.com for such "frontends" - excellent connectivity and the ability to take a server with hourly pay.
p.s. If that - I'm one of the speakers "RedSlerm." Come, it will be interesting:
