Payment in one click is good or evil?
Good day to all.
The other day I happened to have one rather entertaining story, which I would like to share, and at the same time to hear the opinion of those present here on this issue. I am a longtime user of a single deceptive service (here and below, I will not call his name, so as not to make explicit anti-advertising, although knowledgeable people will understand what kind of project it is).
Initially, I was completely satisfied with the user. I registered on the project in September 2012th year. I paid for services not that often, but sometimes, it seems, still paid something.
Approximately at the end of 2014 - early 201? the site changed its design, and along with the design a logo, and, it seems, a general ideology of work.
It all began with the forced connection of auto-renewal services every month, about which nothing was reported to the users until the debit was started from the card. Now such on a site already is not present, so I can not give proofs. I will only say that at that time a considerable number of sites "sick" with this disease, including in runet. One way or another, apparently, there was a flow of negative feedback from clients, and this practice was canceled. But the story did not end there.
Somewhere in the summer of 2016 I wanted to buy a premium mode on this portal, for which I clicked on the corresponding button. Then a horizontal ruler was opened, where the middle option was selected by default. Immediately make a reservation, I do not consider this choice as something bad, but the ruler was executed in such a color solution that it was not very clear which of the options is active (it was orange, and the active version was pale gold). As a result, I did not pay enough attention to it, mechanically pressed the payment button, waiting for the transfer to the payment page, and I was instantly charged for a month of premium access in the amount of 1149 rubles (although I wanted to take just a week for 549). It would seem, my fault - but writing off without entering CVV code, without 3DS confirmation by SMS (although my card supported it, and at all sites it was required)?
On the same day I called technical support with a request to cancel the service and return the money, to which I was told that no refunds were made to customers, and only me was to blame for this situation. I did not stop, I read forums and various sites. I got the impression that in the absence of 3DS support from the seller of the service, I have the right to challenge the transaction and return the funds. I went to the bank, wrote a statement, and in 3 weeks money was returned in full! I did not check the status of the service. I expected that after that my account on the site would be completely blocked, but this, to my surprise, did not happen.
And here a couple of days ago I again returned to this site. Premium was not going to buy, and in general was not going to buy anything there. And in the end I managed to buy by spending 600 rubles. How it happened - about this below :)
So, let's start with the fact that the balance of credits is not displayed in the interface of this site. Right here at all. Then, however, it turns out that it is still displayed - but only for those who have more than zero credits on their balance sheets. The rest at this place displays the button "Get loans".
So, I did not know if I had something on my balance sheet. Next, I clicked on the "Become more popular" button, and got on this page:
Below in gray font on this page there is the following text:
Great. By the way, at this point somewhere on the same page, but essentially below the button, there was a paragraph in black font, saying that I can buy as many as 5500 credits for 600 rubles, and this is very profitable. About other volumes of replenishment nothing was reported.
And now I click on one of the buttons on this page, and at the same time a silent charge from the card is 600 rubles without any codes and 3DS, which I immediately receive SMS.
No, it seems like everything is logical - there was zero on the balance of the site, the service cost 100 credits, the system knew that I had a map tied in my settings (I do not know if it was possible to not bind, and warned when binding that it would not be required even CVV - Yandex.Money, for example, CVV require always even for tied cards), and decided to refill the balance for 5500 credits. Although only 100 were required. Perhaps this is the only allowable amount for making, and you can not buy less credits? Let's understand.
I decided to dig deeper, and see how other pages of the site are arranged. So, for example, there is a page with information on the credits available on the account:
What do you think will happen if you press the button from the top? This page opens:
There are many questions that arise: default is the most expensive option, a gray checkmark for "auto-replenishment of balance", sheltered at the very bottom, which many will surely miss But notice - there are several options available for replenishing the account. The minimum cost is only 40 (or 48 without shares) rubles.
The question is, why did the system automatically credit ?500 loans (twice as much as the maximum offer here, while the truth is at a discount as much as 50 percent)? After all, I did not ask for credits to me generally , in no amount. Yes, below was the text that I am I can get loans on favorable terms. But this text did not relate to the button of purchase of the service that I clicked on (the button said something like "raise the profile" or "become more popular", and was one of several buttons on the page). And of course, when you click on the button, no modal window like "Are you sure you want to make a purchase?" Did not appear. And of course, under the button there was no text "Attention! You have one-click payment activated in the settings, so when you click on the money, they will immediately be written off. " Even pale gray and small print. So it goes.
But maybe not everything is so bad, and I can spend these loans to buy premium access? After all, 5500 credits is a very large amount by the standards of the site. Well, we press "Activate Premium"
What do we see? The premium is paid only for rubles, and requires a separate payment! And where should I now get ?400 unnecessary credits?
Here everything is as usual. The default option is again the most expensive of the line. It's funny that in the autumn of 2016 the average of five was chosen by default, and not the extreme right one. Apparently, the crisis is affecting :)
Finally, if you click on "conditions" (a spoiler that works in a strange way, in the sense that it is displayed as deployed when it is actually collapsed), then we'll see this:
Personally, I have no complaints. Hide important conditions under the spoiler, and even buggy - not very good. But to do so - perhaps it just does not break anything.
It remains only one question - how do users of this service (I believe, not only me) have to write off real money from the card after clicking on the button "Raise popularity" or any similar? The map is tied, 3DS is not on the site, good. But some kind of minimal logic should be present? By clicking on the button "Make my vehicle tune" on the car service website (even if I'm registered there and for some reason tied a bank card there for some reason), I should not expect that the card will write off 20 thousand rubles (an example is exaggerated), because "We have such an action - we give you loans for future services of tuition and service, and at the same time gave you twice the maximum volume at the price of the maximum; and that you have nothing more and will never order, and you do not need loans - well, so do we. " Moreover, with a postscript from below under the spoiler, "money spent for the service is NOT REFUNDABLE".
Virtual goods, you say? I have not seen this in stores like Steam, and even on online casino sites. There the goods are also virtual, but the owners of the service do not allow themselves this in relation to their customers. Maybe because they value their reputation?
And what do you think?
