Acquaintance with Azure DevOps
Azure DevOps is out! Today we will briefly describe this new platform, its solutions, the process of moving from Visual Studio Team Services and about using it in real projects. Join now!
Today we announce the release of Azure DevOps. By communicating with our customers and developers around the world, we realized that DevOps is becoming critical to successful teamwork. Azure DevOps embodies more than 15 years of experience in creating tools for software development. Over the past month, over 8?000 users at Microsoft and thousands of our customers, both large and small, have used DevOps services to create products.
Today these services present the tools used at each stage of development, which allow you to create software faster and better. This is the most complete proposal presented in a public cloud. In Azure DevOps Included are:
Continuous integration and deployment, support for any languages, platforms and cloud services. Connect to GitHub and any Git repository, continuous deployment. See Details .
Powerful workflow control tools: kanban boards, work logs, command information panels and customizable reports. Details> .
The channels of Maven, npm and NuGet packages from open and closed sources. See Details .
Closed cloud repositories Git unlimited storage for project files. Joint requests for inclusion, improved file management and much more. See Details .
Azure Test Plans
A comprehensive solution for planning and arbitrary testing. See Details .
All Azure DevOps services are open and expandable. They are great for any type of application, regardless of environment, platform or cloud. They can be used together as a complete solution of DevOps or separately, with other services. If you plan to use Azure Pipelines to create and test a site service from the GitHub repository and deploy it to a container in AWS, you can easily do it. Azure DevOps supports both open and closed cloud configurations. You run them in our cloud or your own data center. You do not need to acquire different licenses. An example of independent use of Azure Pipelines for creating a GitHub repository:
As an alternative, here is an example of a developer using all Azure DevOps services in one convenient place in Azure Boards.
For open source projects, you can use continuous development and deployment with Azure Pipelinesfor free.
As proof that we intend to provide open and flexible tools to all developers, Azure Pipelines can have unlimited time free to carry out continuous development and deployment of up to ten tasks at a time for each open source project. Azure Pipelines is ideal for projects of any type, since it has a cloud cluster of Linux, MacOS and Windows.
Many of the largest open source projects are already using Azure Pipelines for continuous development and deployment, for example, Atom , CPython , Pipenv , Tox , Visual Studio Code and TypeScript , and this list is growing every day.
We want to provide first-class service for everyone. Therefore, developers of open source projects use the same infrastructure as users of paid services.
Azure Pipelines is now available at GitHub Marketplace . To get started with GitHub and any other open-source repository, a minimal configuration is required.

Development of Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS)
Azure DevOps is the result of the development of Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS). VSTS users will automatically be transferred to Azure DevOps. Existing users will not lose functionality, but will gain more choice and control. Full transparency and integration, the distinctive features of VSTS, are preserved. Azure DevOps services perfectly match each other. We will start translating users today, and within the next few months they will see all the changes. What does it mean?
URLs will change from abc.visualstudio.com to dev.azure.com/abc. Forwarding from visualstudio.com will be enabled, so you will not encounter broken links.
As the service has changed, updated and the interface . We will continue to improve it based on feedback from users of the trial version. It will be enabled by new users by default. In the coming months, it will become the main one for existing users.
The local Team Foundation Server (TFS) service will continue to be updated, updates will be similar to those that are released for Azure DevOps. After the release of the next version of TFS, the product will receive a new name - Azure DevOps Server and will be updated in the same mode.
Find out , as already now apply these changes to current users of VSTS.
