Internet in the country: how to save money?

It so happened that I had to spend almost the entire last year at the dacha. It seems to be almost in the city, but still there are no communications except electricity. Neither gas, nor water, nor, most importantly, the Internet! But if gas can be bought in cylinders, water should be taken from a well /well, then what about the Internet? Constantly on mobile traffic you will not sit, especially if you work on freelancing, and even in the evenings you can watch movies in good quality? Last September, I began to look for a solution.

Internet in the country: how to save money?

For some reason, in the Russian market, only one operator offers a truly unlimited mobile Internet for a relatively reasonable price. Everyone else has the maximum traffic packets in the region of 30GB, which in modern realities is absolutely not enough for a "home" Internet. I have a router with such a package in my car and not every month I have enough of it. So there is no choice in fact: only Yota.

In the same dacha village, a lot of ads are pasted about connecting the Internet from this provider. Called, found out - the prices start from ??? rub. Itself one time kalilil and put familiar such antennas and I know what equipment they use. Indeed, at prices it will not come cheap even if you buy everything yourself and put it yourself.

It was decided to follow the path of least resistance. To begin with, a WiFi-USB router of the company was purchased:

Although the city is close, it was possible to connect, but the speed At EDGE more! Generally unacceptable.

In the DNS, a home signal amplifier was purchased. It is plugged into the USB modem and from it already cable to the computer or the outlet (in the case of WiFi).

Unfortunately, this device did not bring a significant improvement in the quality of the Internet. Everything was still slow and barely loaded. Very often the connection disappeared altogether.

Then it became clear that the entire construction would have to be raised higher. To protect from weather conditions, the entire antenna in conjunction with the modem was tightly wrapped with reinforced tape, and on top, also conventional. The same scotch tape is attached to an ordinary metal pipe found on the site. Bought 10 meters USB extension cable, now I do not remember the cost, but something in the vicinity of 500r. As a result, it turned out to raise the modem with the antenna to a height of about 8 meters.

That's when it all worked. There is quite a steady Internet. The speed allowed to watch Youtube without problems. For example, the data on the connection for the last hour:

To select the maximum ratio of SINR /RSRP it was necessary to simply rotate the pipe choosing the optimal direction to the cell towers.

Of course many will say that the "made on the snouts" design will not work for a long time, thanks to the scotch, moisture is formed due to evaporation and temperature changes, etc. In response, we can say that this device has worked without any problems since September last year and now it is through it that this post is sent to the Habr. She was not afraid of rain or snow or wind. Always everything worked quite stably. SINR /RSRP is always within the limits of what's on the screenshot, plus a minus a couple of ones. Sometimes the connection speed drops, but apparently it depends on the load of the operator and for a long time it usually does not last.

In spring, from the wind and my crooked hands, the pipe fell (it was badly fixed near the ridge of the house). This allowed to make an "inventory" of the device and see in what state everything is - traces of moisture and rusty raids on the connectors and the device was not found. Everything continues to work to this day and nothing is planned to be changed.

Extension from the device is plugged into a USB outlet 5V and the Internet is received via WiFi. In the summer, when I want to work sitting in the summer-house I use a WiFi-repeater, bought in a well-known store of Chinese goods. And let the design looks nekazisto, but it works!

Now the final calculations, how many managed to save on the connection:

Modem: 2900r

Antenna: 900р

Cable: 500р

4300r against 16000r declared by "pluggers"! Almost four times. I think that a good saving. Maybe someone will use my experience, then this article is written not in vain!
